Dental Implants in Liverpool

Dental Implants from Saving Faces are a safe, painless and very popular way of restoring your smile to its natural perfection when gaps have appeared due to teeth falling out or having to be removed. Dental Implants in Liverpool are the name given to the combination of a false tooth and a small titanium metal rod which is slotted into your jawbone to support the false tooth it like a root would do with a real tooth.

For dental fixtures, also known as Endosseous Implants, Saving Faces is a name you can trust. The treatment provided supplies a false tooth which acts as a replacement for teeth which, usually due to damage or decay, have fallen out or are ruining your smile.

We like to make sure that the procedure you undergo is simple and only requires a small operation to fit your Dental Implants before the dentures are installed between 12 and 15 weeks later.

The tooth implant treatment is performed by our highly professional team at our luxurious Liverpool based practice, and to further ensure our patient remains relaxed and comfortable throughout the procedure, the dental implant surgery is completed under local anaesthesia. Our team of dentists and hygienists will help you get a long-lasting and exceptionally beautiful smile that you can be proud of.

What is a Liverpool Dental Implant?

Dental implants are false teeth used as a permanent replacement for teeth you have lost to decay or to replace teeth that require immediate extraction as they are otherwise beyond repair. In cases where an extraction is needed, your dental fixtures will fill the gap to make your smile look just how it did before the damage to your natural teeth occurred. This is because appearance-wise, implants look just like real teeth.

However, unlike a real tooth, a dental implant is immune from cavities and problems which plague natural teeth. For a complete set of teeth, that you will without a doubt want to show off, having a dental implant is an effective option to replace a tooth that has fallen out or needs to be removed. If need be you can also incorporate the use of the implant with our teeth whitening services. Whatever you choose to do your implant will also be made to match the colour of your existing teeth.

The Dental Implant Process

There are three main steps which comprise the installation of dental implants in Liverpool. The first one is the extraction, or falling out, of the problem tooth and then the gum preparation. Next is the installation of the titanium screw, that replaces the natural root. This metal “root” acts as an anchor which is firmly in place to allow for the final stage were an implant, moulded to match your teeth, is attached to the screw.

Dental Implant FAQs

  • Is it safe to have dental implants?
Yes. It is one of the safest and most predictable procedures a dentist can perform. Fitting dental implants has been a common procedure for more than 30 years, plus we have years of experience fitting dental implants in Liverpool.
  • How long with the implants last?
Dental implants are like any other tooth; how long they last very much depends on how well you look after them. If they are properly taken care of, dental implants will last for many years. However, if they are not, you could begin to suffer from soreness, discomfort or even gum disease.
  • I have some of my own teeth. Can I have implants?
Yes. We are able to replace everything from a single tooth to a complete set of teeth.
  • Do implants hurt?
You will not feel any pain during the procedure as it is usually done using a local aesthetic. Like any extraction, there may be a small level of discomfort following the surgery. This will usually subside after a week at maximum though.
  • How long does the treatment take?
Sometimes, we are able to provide 'immediate implants' which allows you to fit the dentures and implants at the same time. Your dentist will be able to inform you about whether you are suitable for this procedure or not. Otherwise, because it takes a little while for the bone in your jaw to fuse with the implants, the permanent dentures are usually fitted between 3 and 4 months.
  • What about aftercare?
Your dentist will instruct you on the best ways to look after your implants once they have been fitted. In instances where patients are having one, two or three teeth fitted, temporary dentures may be provided until the permanent ones can be placed.
  • Are the implanted teeth difficult to clean?
No. Cleaning your teeth is done in almost exactly the same way. However, there may be areas requiring attention that are a little tough to reach. Your dentist will be able to provide you with advice about how to make sure they are properly cleaned.
  • If I had gum disease when I had my own teeth, will I get it with the implants?
Gum disease will affect your implants in the same way it affects your teeth. Make sure they are looked after carefully and have them regularly checked to avoid damage.
  • Can I take the teeth out if they are fixed to implants?
No. Teeth can only be removed by a dentist once they have been fitted. The only exception are removable dentures which can be easily taken out for cleaning.
  • Are the implants visible?
No. They are designed to look like natural teeth and show no signs of falsehood.
  • What happens if the implant does not fuse with the bone?
There are very rare instances in which an implant does not fuse with the bone in your jaw. This does not mean you are incapable of having dental implants. The implant can simply be removed from your mouth, and once your jaw has healed another can be slotted in. Furthermore, if this is an isolated incident and you have other implants that have 'taken', our dentist may be able to make a bridge that fits the dentures to the implants that have fused.
